Is Your Persimmon Soap Real?

Your persimmon soap stopped working before you opened it. Here's why: the tannin that grips the oil is only in the UNRIPE fruit, picked green and left to ferment for months. The glossy orange persimmon printed on nearly every box has almost none of it left. That's why the bar you bought did nothing. It isn't your skin. It was the wrong fruit. There is no standard behind those two words. A bar built on fermented extract and a bar built on juice and orange dye can print them in the same size type, legally. I grew up with the real one in Japan. Read what I check before you buy another.
